When using the detail nozzle without the brush you normally are cleaning areas that are hard to get to or are close fitting such as hinges, joins, taps etc. The trick is to use the steam on high or full pressure to blow the dirt out of these areas. This action will spread the dirt as it comes out which can easily be wiped up afterwards. Be cautious however if cleaning close to absorbent materials to protect them from the dirt. When using the brush on the end of the nozzle it is better to turn the steam volume down if your model has adjustable steam pressure. This does not effect the temperature of the steam and the brush agitation assist in removing the grease, baked on stain or difficult to remove dirt. The advantage in turning the pressure down is that you can see what you are doing! Stain Removal Use the detail to remove spot stains such as dried on coffee or wine (yes even red wine!). Use with full power, hold the nozzle at around a 30o angle to the surface and blow the steam into the stain at that angle. It is usually wise to hold the floor brush with a mop attached opposite the stain as the dirt will blow out over the floor or wall if not prevented. Do not try to remove the stain with the small round brush using steam directly down onto the stain as this may spread the stain further.
The principle is the same for the steam vacuum models, use the detail nozzle to blow the stain into a cloth. Click here to see how to clean oven and grill racks |
